Son & Servant
Reflections of Pastor Swee Boo in his ministry.
4 June 2006

"We don't understand the hands of God, but we could trust His heart"
---Pastor Swee Boo
I Am My Father's Servant
Leadership in Christ
Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths. Psalms 25:4
In leading a ministry, it is necessary to adopt a servanthood attitude. One's identity would be a servant to the maker, Jesus. When we are a sevant to Jesus, we not only serve Jesus, we also serve WITH Jesus. When we serve with Jesus, we serve His people. In leading a ministry for Christ, our ambition is not leadership. It should be servanthood. It is important that we do not dethrone Christ in our leading of a ministry. Leadership is a responsibility while servanthood is a posture of the heart.
I Am My Father's Responsibility
Full Obedience to the Father
The Vine and the Branches
"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he purnes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
"As the Father has loved, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." John 15:1 - 11
The consequence of abiding in Jesus and Jesus abiding in us is fruitfulness. God will lead us into a moulded matured Christian by making use of the environmental conditions around us.
"When I obey my Father, my Father takes away my burdens, my faither will take care of me, I am His responsibility."--- Pastor's wife
When we obey God and abide in Him, we will feel secured and comforted, because we are His responsibility. He will take care of all other things while my chief responsibility is to obey Him. Through obedience, I am rested and feel much loved. This is true restedness.
